Gertrude Wiebe, age 98, of Grunthal, went to be with her Lord & Saviour on July 31, 2011 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Gertrude (nee Wiens) was born on July 8, 1913, in Pansy, MB. On July 18, 1931, in a barn lean-to in Kronsgard near Grunthal, Gertrude became the wife of Abram F. Wiebe. Abram died in 2002 after 71 years of marriage. A true pioneer, she lived through some very hard times. Our beautiful mother will be sadly missed by her children, Martha (Dan), Gertie, Henry (Judy), Helen (Abe), Abe (Lucille), 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 27 great- great- grandchildren, as well as her brother Corney (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, with viewing prior to the service. Interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grunthal Menno Home for the compassion and care they gave Mom.
