Obituary of Bill Fehr

Bill was born on November 27, 1960, the third son born to Bill and Susan Fehr. He was born in the city of Winnipeg and spent several years there growing up with his family. In 1963 the family moved to Morris, Manitoba and moved again to a farm just south of Carlowrie, Manitoba where they lived until 1971. The next move was back to the city of Winnipeg. City life introduced Bill to many new friends and activities that influenced his entire life. The family moved one more time to a hobby farm outside of Oakbank, Manitoba. In 1984 Bill met the love of his life, the woman that was to become his wife, Aline Marcoux. Aline had a daughter, Amanda, and the three of them became a family on August 9, 1986. Three more daughters were born to the couple, Jessica, Kristin and Jennifer. The girls were the most important part of Bill’s life, right up until the day he passed into eternity. Bill’s work was another important aspect of his life. He spent the last 24 years as a contracted service provider with Manitoba Hydro. He faithfully provided high quality services through his company, Fehr Services. Also Bill and his good friend Don Yurechuk had recently begun a new company, IKJ Renovations. In January, Bill began to experience some stomach pains but didn’t think it was anything to worry about. In March pain in his hips, legs and other parts of his body began to affect him. On June 3rd he made a visit to the Ste. Anne Hospital for some digestive problems. On Monday June 13th Bill saw another doctor that indicated that he may have kidney problems and more tests would be needed. Tuesday, June 14th, Bill began to experience severe chest pains and was taken to Ste. Anne Hospital where he was examined and kept overnight. He was released in the morning. The next evening Bill was taken to Steinbach Emergency with the same chest pains. He was kept in the hospital and on June 22nd was told that he had cancer. The following week, Thursday, June 30th Bill was told that he had just 2 to 4 weeks of life remaining. Bill remained calm and content throughout the entire time, facing what he was dealt, with courage and humor. On July 30th, at 10:35 pm, Bill stepped into eternity, peaceably and with a smile to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, whom Bill got to know in the last 4 weeks of his life. As Bill passed on he was surrounded by his dear friends, Paul, Don, Gord and Creston and Nicole along with the Palliative care nurse, Anne Plett. The entire family would like to express our gratitude to the dear friends, who were with Bill throughout his painful last weeks, especially Bill’s longtime friend who cared for him at home day and night. Thank you, Paul. We would also like to thank all of Bill’s many friends, who came from far away, the extended family that visited Bill in his last days, as well as the Health Care Professionals at Bethesda that provided kind care to Bill and to the home care workers, the palliative care staff, in particular Anne Plett for the professional help and care given. Thank you. Bill is survived by his parents Bill & Susan Fehr of Zhoda, Manitoba, his daughters Jessica, Kristen and Jennifer Fehr, Amanda Marcoux and Aline the mother of the girls. He is also survived by three brothers, George and wife Brenda, Henry, John and wife Diane, sister Diane and their families. The funeral will take place Thursday, August 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the Cornerstone Bible Church, 290 First Street, Steinbach, MB, with interment at the Blumenfeld Cemetery at approximately 4:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the The Bethesda Foundation – Cancer Care, 316 Henry St., Steinbach, MB R5G 0P9.
