Obituary of Richard Orobko

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and Gee Gee. Peacefully, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer Rick passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011. His memory will be forever cherished by his best friend and loving wife of 35 years, Gail (Leduchowski), daughter Crystal and Grant Smadella, and precious grandson, Ryder (his “little guy”). He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Leonard and Donald, mother-in-law, Helen Leduchowski as well as many relatives and friends. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Janet, sister Patty(Yanisiw) and father-in-law Joe Leduchowski. Rick was born October 10, 1938 in Winnipeg. He was raised on a farm in Dufresne, Mb. He had a career as a draftsman at Weststeel Rosco, Government of Manitoba and Carte Electric. Rick will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, patience, strength, compassion, and mechanical expertise. His passions in life were body building, drag racing and restoring Dodge Challengers. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Bethesda Steinbach Hospital (first floor) for the extra love, kindness and care provided to Rick during his time there. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at Riverwood Church Community, 257 Riverton Ave, Winnipeg, MB, on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to Children’s Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Wpg., MB R3C 3J2 or Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street; Wpg., MB R3C 2B7 “ He will be missed and always remembered.”
