Obituary of Walter Pasichnyk
Suddenly on August 21, 2009 Walter Pasichnyk passed away doing what he loved the most—tending to his cattle.
Walter is survived by his children Kim(Joe), Blaine(Cheryl), Rodney, Darrell(Dana), Kenny and Patricia(Kenny), 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, Gloria Pasichnyk, numerous nieces and nephews, brothers Mike(Francis), Carl(Shirley), Paul(Molly) and sister Nadia and many friends young and old.
Walter was predeceased by his parents William and Annie and brother Nestor.
Dad was born in Ethelbert on June 14, 1937 where he lived till the age of 17. At that time he went to work for CN Rail. Later he moved to Winnipeg and worked for Flyer Industries and Quest Metals. Dad married mom and they settled back in Ethelbert to farm. Dad moved back to Winnipeg and once again worked for Quest Metals till he retired at the age of 67. During these later years dad and his son Blaine started farming. In 2004 dad moved to La Broquerie and continued to raise cattle till his passing.
Dad would spend countless hours with his animals, be it cattle, pigs, horses or dogs. They were his life. Come calving time dad would check on his cattle every few hours to make sure they were all right. A more hard working and dedicated farmer you could not find.
Dad enjoyed socializing at his house with a beverage or two and always had some good stories to tell. Or at the local hotel he could strike up a very animated conversation with any stranger.
The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses at the Steinbach emergency for everything that they did for dad.
The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with cremation to follow.
