Obituary of Annie Loewen

ANNIE LOEWEN Annie Penner Loewen was born to Edward D. and Helena Goossen Penner on February 22, 1931 in the Rosenort, Manitoba area. She was released from her earthly pain and cares on September 4, 2009, at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, Manitoba. She reached the age of 78 years. Annie gave her heart to the Lord at a tender age and was baptized on November 26, 1943 by Minister Jesse Johnson. She remained faithful to her vows. She carried with her a quiet yet heartfelt concern for the salvation of her children and grandchildren. We look forward to meeting her in heaven. Annie married Allan Loewen on November 23, 1952. They lived in the Rosenort area all their lives except for one year when they served in the Sunchild Mission in Alberta and the last year at the Maplewood Manor. The last number of years she was taken care of by health care personnel. We appreciate the excellent care she received. The children are thankful mom could spend her last year together with dad in the manor. Their love and dedication for each other was an inspiration to others. Mom suffered from rheumatoid arthritis from a young age. In spite of this handicap she was a determined, hardworking and supportive mother and wife, looking well after her family’s needs with patience and fortitude. Later in life other complications set in. Though she often expressed her desire to be more useful, she continued to bear the suffering and pain without complaining. Throughout her suffering she displayed a sense of humor that endeared her to many that knew her. A special prayer was held for Mother a number of years ago when she was at a physical low in her life. Her request was to pray, not for a healing, but for endurance and grace to bear the suffering. The prayer was that God’s will be done. God’s grace in her life was evidence of answered prayer. Those left to cherish precious memories are her beloved husband Allan, four sons and four daughters, 31 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her children are Dianne of Rosenort, MB; Gerald and Cheryl of Rosenort, MB; Fern and Victor Toews of Moorefield, Ontario; Byron and Darla of Rosenort, MB; Larry and Rosemarie of Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia; Betty and Dalen Goossen of Gretna, MB; Keith and Sandi of Rosenort, MB; and Rhonda and Chester Friesen of Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. Her surviving brothers and sisters are Adina and Jac Isaac, Frances Warkentin, Marcella and Maynard Friesen, Stanley and Lenora, Harold and Ruth, Gladys and Sherwin Friesen, Joanne, Joyce, Helena and Glenn Schneider, Stella, Roland and Doris, one brother-in-law Ed Penner, and one sister-in-law Frances Penner. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Helena Penner, her 18 year old son Russell in May, 1988, sisters Emma Warkentin and Amanda Penner, brother Vernon Penner, and brother-in-law Ed Warkentin. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Rosenort, MB with interment at the church cemetery.
