Obituary of Peter Thiessen Krahn

Peter was born on February 16, 1941 to Abraham and Maria Krahn in Paraguay. He was one of 10 children and lived most of his life in Paraguay. He got married to Gertruda Funk on August 13, 1962. They spent 47 years together and were blessed with 3 sons and 2 daughters. He loved working hard and had a passion for farming, working on the fields with his tractor and hunting, while living in Paraguay and in Canada he found the passion for camping and fishing. He started his battle with cancer over 30 years ago where it originated as skin cancer. Approximately 24 years ago he underwent a mayor surgery where he came close to losing his life and his appearance (face) changed dramatically. He fought skin cancer since, but it was an internal cancer he lost the battle to. He went through a lot of suffering and pain until he was received by the Lord on October 15, 2009 at his residence. Peter is survived by his wife Gertruda, five children: two sons in Canada, Isbrand (Alwine), Helmut (Berta), one son Gustav (Elke), two daughters Hanna (Arnold) Klassen, Lily (Harold) Toews in Paraguay, and their families, 13 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister at the age of five and one brother-in-law. A special thank you goes to South Eastman Palliative care, Home care and staff, doctors and nurses, who did the most possible to ease his pain. A special thank you goes to everybody who paid Peter and Gertruda a visit and for all the thoughts and prayers. The funeral service for Peter T. Krahn will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Niverville C.M.C. Church, 99 First St, Niverville with burial at Hespeler Cemetery. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service. Donations may be made to South Eastman Palliative Care, ON109 – 675 McDermot Ave.; Wpg., MB R3E 0V9 or Cancer Care Manitoba, Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0
