Obituary of Helen Kornelsen

Helen was born to David W. and Mary Jantz Klassen on October 28, 1929 at Three Hills, Alberta. She passed away on October 17, 2009 at the Ste. Anne Hospital. After a nursing career in Abbotsford, B.C., she married Henry Kornelsen in 1971. They moved to Greenland, Manitoba the following year. Dad passed away in 1982. In September 21, 2001, Helen had a major heart attack and had emergency surgery to replace a heart valve. She never fully regained her health and strength. This summer her health deteriorated steadily until she passed on to be with the Lord. She is survived by her step-children Mary and Jake Reimer, Bettie and Peter Kehler, Helen Kornelsen, Anna Kornelsen, Bertha and John Banman, Elma and Nick Friesen, Henry and Lena Kornelsen, Carolyn and Ben Wiebe, Margaret and Peter Fehr, Arnold and Elaine Kornelsen, Martha and Larry Giesbrecht and their families. She is also survived by her sisters Beth Giesbrecht and Selma and Alvin Giesbrecht and her brother Niel Klassen. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, three step sons, and one step daughter and her husband. Viewing at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 22, 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Greenland with interment at the church cemetery.
