Helena Martens Helena Martens of Steinbach, formerly of Landmark, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Bethesda Place on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the age of 81. She will be sadly missed by her children Larry (Sandra), Elaine, Neil, Joe, Bob (Rhonda), Sharon, Floyd, Gary (Lorraine), Debbie (George); twenty grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Peter M. Martens, daughter Valerie and son Leonard in infancy. Helena was born in 1924 at Kronsgart, MB. She lived in Landmark and later moved to Bethesda Place. Mom was lady of grace and strength. She cared dearly for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and had a very loving heart. We all knew, that if ever there was a day that went by, if we hadn’t been told we were loved by someone, we would be sure to hear an “I love you” from Mom. The Lord gave her a very loving heart. A special thanks to all who cared and took care of her throughout the years. The viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 4 at 7 pm with a devotional at 7:30. The funeral service will be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church 479 Hanover St, Steinbach on Monday, June 5 at 2 pm with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
