Jake Penner of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the age of 71 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Nettie, one daughter Linda, one son Darren and their families as well as by two sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son-in-law. Jake was born in Pesane, SK on September 14, 1938. His family moved to Steinbach, MB in 1960. He married Nettie Friesen on September 5, 1965 and they enjoyed 44 years together Jake worked at Loewen Windows for 23 years. He then started his own lawn care business which he operated for 5 years until his retirement at the age of 65. Family was always very important to him and he loved Nettie, his children, and grandson immensely. He treasured family time together. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church, 417 Hanover St, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
