It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerard (Gerry) Aeron Hrechanyk of La Broquerie. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Gerry peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on September 15, 2011 at the age of 55. Gerry leaves behind to celebrate his life, Angela (Tourond), his wife of 29 years and sons Aaron and Kyle. He also leaves behind his sisters Anne (Wes) Keating and Marianne Curtis; four nieces, two nephews, a grand-niece and grand-nephew. He was predeceased by his parents Zon and Helene Hrechanyk. Gerry was well known for his love of vehicles and spent the last twenty-five years of his life working at Ledingham, in Steinbach as a mechanic. A celebration of Gerry’s life is taking place at Birchwood Funeral Home in Steinbach on Wednesday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing is prior to the service. Interment will take place afterwards. In Gerry’s memory, the family is requesting those attending the funeral to bring out their classic automobiles.. In lieu of flowers a trust account has been set up at the Steinbach Credit Union to assist the family.
