Obituary of David R. Reimer

David R. Reimer David R. Reimer of Blumenort and formerly of Landmark, MB passed away suddenly at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on June 4th, 2006. He was less than two weeks away from his 77th birthday. He was born June 16, 1929 in the Steinbach area to Cornelius P and Maria Reimer, the youngest of 16 children. He was 17 when his father passed away and only 29 when his mother also passed away. David enjoyed his family, spending much time visiting his brothers and sisters. He also cherished his nieces and nephews. He traveled to BC, Nova Scotia, Mexico and Belize to visit his family. David’s heart was in farming. He was proud to be a farmer, but he also did other jobs. One of them was working at the Eaton’s mail order center and another one was working at Winnipeg Cold Storage. He enjoyed relatively good health most of his life but struggled during the last few years. Recently he was concerned about the sudden weak spells he was experiencing. David is survived by two sisters, Anna Friesen and Sara (Albert P.) Brandt and by one brother, Abram R. (Margaret, nee Kornelsen) Reimer and their families. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Olga Mantky Friesen, who was married to Peter R. Reimer, and by his brother-in-law Ruben (Betty) Reimer and their families as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Cornelius S. Reimer and his first wife, Tina Wiebe and his second wife, Elisabeth Schroeder; by his brother-in-law Martin P. Friesen; by his brothers Peter R. Reimer and Klaas R. (Katherina nee Barkman) Reimer; by his sisters, Helen (Peter J.) Penner, Maria (Klaas C.) Penner, Elisabeth, Margaret, Tina (who was married to Ruben Reimer) and Susie (Otto) Kliewer and by three brothers at a young age. Especially recently Uncle David was very interested in spiritual things. He read many books and loved to pass them on to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many kind friends. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Friday, June 9 at 7 pm with a devotional at 7:30 pm. and prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 10 at 11 a.m. also at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at the Blumenort EMC Cemetery.
