Obituary of Alva Froese

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Alva Froese was born on May 29, 1924 to Henry B. Froese and Aganetha Enns Froese on a farm near Rosenort, Manitoba. He peacefully departed this life with family around his bedside September 29, 2011 at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, Manitoba. At the tender age of 7 years his father passed away. This deeply impacted his life and brought a maturity and sense of responsibility which never left him. He was converted and baptized during the big revival of 1940 at Rosenort Manitoba. On October 19, 1946 he was united in marriage to, Susan Niessen in Altona Manitoba, enjoying nearly 65 years of married life. In 1949 our parents and one young son went to the mission in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. They served in various locations throughout the years, returning to Rosenort, Manitoba in 1961. The years in Mexico affected all of his life. He had a warm spot for his beloved Mexican people. During the years in Mexico Dad suffered several bouts with cancer and again another one in Manitoba, from which he miraculously recovered. His life was an example of faith, trust, and commitment to following God, wherever He would lead. Dad was a lover of song, beginning in his childhood with his brothers and sisters. A song was often on his lips and he sang with us till his last days. In June 1963 he was ordained to the ministry with his wife by his side by Minister Dave Penner. Our Dad was dedicated to serving the Lord in the outreach of the Gospel in mission work throughout his life. This work took him to many countries of the world, including India, Africa, Haiti, Central America and his beloved Mexico. The revival work of the Church also took him to many and various congregations. His first priority in life was the spiritual welfare of his family and congregation. Dad provided well for the family, first as a storekeeper, and later as a farmer. In 1968 we moved as a family to Roblin, Manitoba, where they resided for many years, before retiring to the town of Roblin In June 2011, requiring more care, our parents moved to Maplewood Manor in Steinbach, Manitoba. Dad was very happy there, renewing many old friendships and making many new ones. The family is deeply grateful for the excellent care and love shown to our father while a patient there. Dad was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, one son, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Those left to mourn and cherish fond memories are his loving wife Susie, his children, Clement and Vivian, Crooked Creek, Alberta, daughter-in-law Janice, Roblin, Manitoba, Dolores and Larry Penner, Roblin Manitoba, Maynard and Faye, Edberg, Alberta, Becky and Randy Bartel, Roblin, Manitoba, Hannah and Lester Friesen, Creston, BC, Cindy and Stuart Isaac, Roblin, Manitoba.
