Dennis Wohlgemuth was born on November 2, 1940 to Frank and Elizabeth (Klassen) Wohlgemuth in Steinbach, MB. He peacefully passed away at home in the early morning hours of December 22, 2009 reaching the age of 69 years. He lived most of his life in the Greenland area. He bought the family farm in 1971 and after retirement moved to Steinbach living there for 3 1/2 years. He was a farmer/carpenter all his life. He especially enjoyed going to work at Schmidtke Millwork for nine years. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on December 15, 1953. He loved Bible history and had a great love for the church. He reconsecrated his life in the fall of 2009 leaving a clear testimony that he had met the Lord; bringing the family closer together. He was married to Erlene Holdeman at Hesston, KS on June 5. 1966. We shared the joys and sorrows of life for 43 1/2 years. He loved scenery and a beautiful yard with many flowers. He also loved travelling and just recently we enjoyed a special time with his family at Thanksgiving and a trip to Kansas and Texas. We as a family especially treasure our last couple days all together. Left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife, Erlene; his children Kathy and Leonard Weaver; Joleen and John Sauder of Fleetwood, PA and Myron of Steinbach, MB; his grandchildren Mikayla, Jordan and Kyler Weaver; Britney and Amberly Sauder. He is survived by one sister, Ruth and Dennis Froese and four brothers Wes and Donelle; Norman and Lorna; Ken and Carolyn; Ray and Florene and two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Leonard Unruh; Cheryle Wohlgemuth. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Janice and Gene Unruh; Carol and Wilmer Dueck; Donella and Julian Toews; and two brothers-in-law, Archie and Karen Holdeman; Gary and Lorrie Holdeman. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional to follow at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Greenland with interment at the Greenland Cemetery.
