Obituary of Fernande Poiron

Peacefully at home Fernande Poiron passed away at age 79. Left to cherish her memory are her eight children, Leon (Evelyn), Paul (Debbie), Suzanne (Clarence) Plammand, Therese (Leonard) Vandale, Albert (Denise), Maurice (Rolande), Yolande (Glenn) Demetruk, Beatrice (Corey) Tetrault and daughter-in-law Shelley; 32 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joachim Poiron in 1990, son Martin Poiron in 1996, parents Simon and Maria Vandale, four brothers Fairnest, Joseph, Michael and Renée, one sister Therese and one granddaughter Ariel. She was born in Hoey, SK where she lived until age 17 and went to Winnipeg for nursing school for two years where she met our father Joachim. Two years later they married on October 6, 1951. They moved to St. Labre where they lived until he died. She then lived with her daughter Beatrice and then Yolande. She lived alone in Parkview until 2009 and then moved in with Yolande again. Mom was diagnosed in September 2009 with cancer. Her fight was short but hard. Prayers and viewing will be held Sunday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach. The funeral will be Monday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Catholic Church, 365 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach. Interment at St. Labre Cemetery followed by lunch at Woodridge Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Eastman Palliative Care Program, Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0 or Cancer Care Manitoba, Room ON109 – 675 McDermot Ave.; Wpg., MB
