Obituary of Anne Funk-Janzen

Peacefully on February 9, with her family by her side, Anne was welcomed into God’s arms. She is survived by her husband of two weeks, Alfred (Fred) Janzen, sons David (Shelley), Doug (Ellen), Donald, Bruce (Carol) and step-children Doreen (David) and Len, grandchildren Stephanie (Ryan), Derek (Jessica), Travis, Andrew (Maria), Ashley (Rodrigo), Tyler and Terri-Ann (Zack), great grandchildren Abigail, Caden, Johanna and MacKenzie, sisters Mary (Jake), Eva, Marge (Nick), and brothers Jake (Myrtle) and Harold (Marianne). Anne was pre-deceased by her first husband Ervin and by great grandson Kaydun Peter. She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide network of friends. Anne was born in Altona on April 14, 1931 to Dietrich and Anne Neudorf. She had great fun with her sisters in her early years working in Winnipeg. She married Ervin Funk on May 31, 1953 and together they raised four sons. They settled in Rosenort in 1967 and later moved to Steinbach where they lived until Ervin’s passing in 1995. Mom moved into Winnipeg and recently moved from her apartment on Adamar to Bethel Place. Last year she met Fred and they enjoyed singing, visiting and sharing time together. Fred and Mom were married on January 23, 2010 in the chapel at St. Boniface Hospital. Our thanks to Fred for the incredible love and care he showed to Mom. She touched the lives of family, friends and all those around her. We will miss her deeply. We would like to extend our thanks to the doctors and nurses and all staff on ward 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their thoughtful and caring support to Mom during her final weeks with us. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 15, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB, with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Anne may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
