Obituary of Marlene Hilda Polson

On Wednesday, October 12th, 2011, Marlene Hilda Polson (nee Klassen) of Steinbach, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce her sudden passing. Marlene will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by husband Michael, son Christopher (Winnipeg), parents Herman and Irene Klassen (Morden), brothers Gordon (Nadine) (Portage La Prairie), Wayne (Calgary), Darrell (Jo) (Winnipeg), brothers-in-law Steve (Moose Jaw) and Paul (Steinbach), sisters-in-law Margaret (Maury) (Winnipeg), Monica (Winnipeg), and Madeleine (David) (Winnipeg) as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marlene was born in Morden, MB, December 13, 1963 and grew up in MacGregor and Portage La Prairie. She moved to Winnipeg in 1980 and graduated from Westwood Collegiate in 1982. In 1983 Marlene and Michael were married and a year later their only son Christopher was born. In 1985 the Polson’s moved to Regina, SK where Marlene worked for more than 20 years as a cashier at the Real Canadian Superstore (first at the downtown location and then the north Regina location). In 2009 Marlene and Michael moved back to Manitoba to be closer to family. Marlene worked in Steinbach at the Mennonite Heritage Village and in February 2010 she attended Eastman College in Steinbach where she completed her certificate in Health Care Aide and began working in that field in July 2010 at Cedarwood Care Home until her passing. Marlene enjoyed traveling, interior home design, gardening, and most of all her family and friends. Marlene was a loving spouse, mother, child, sister, aunt and a great friend to many. She treated her family and friends with an understanding, acceptance, and kindness that will never be forgotten. The unconditional love she gave to everyone around will always be remembered. She enriched the lives of all who knew her and those memories will be cherished forever. She was a second mother to nieces, nephews, and children of friends. She would have liked those who knew her not to mourn her passing but celebrate the memories they have of her. Marlene would much rather we share a story or smile than shed a tear; it truly was the kind of person she was. We know Marlene that God has welcomed you into his arms because of the life you led and your commitment to Him. Psalm 48:14 “For this God, is our God, for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” As a remembrance to Marlene, take some time to visit a friend and let them know what they mean to you. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive in Steinbach, MB on Sunday, October 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach.
