With great sadness, we announce the tragic passing of Raymond Chatel on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Laurie; daughter Noella (Terry), son Ian (Stephanie), grandchildren; Aimée-Jo (Stewart), Renée (Onani), Michéal (Robyn), Ryan (Tricia), Brenda-Lynn (Adam); great-grandchildren Taylor and Vanessa. Left to remember Raymond are his sister Mary, brother William (Lois), numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Hedwiga, sisters: Betty, AnneMarie; brothers; Joseph, Franklin, Frank, Leo, Frederic and an infant. Raymond was born on October 18, 1934 in Woodridge, where he met and married Laurie Flamand. Dad worked for Manitoba Conservation for 36 years until his retirement in 1995. He was also well known for his small engine repair, which he continued to do. Gardening and jigsaw puzzles were pastimes he enjoyed. Dad was always available to give a helping hand. Mass will be held on October 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church in Woodridge. A private ash interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank Dr. Curtis Krahn and all the emergency responders. If one so desires, donations can be made to charity of their choice.
