Obituary of Charles Edward Bell

Peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2010, Ed passed away at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 77 years. Ed was predeceased by his parents Charles and Lois (Short) Bell, a younger brother Eric and his step-mother Alice Bilodeau. Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne (Hamonic) of Paradise Village, Ste. Anne; sister Margaret (Gordon) Delf his foster brother Jamie (Elizabeth) Kabernick; children Robin, Maxine (Ruffo) Schindler, Alan, Brian (Barbara), Colleen Davis (Joe), Charlotte (Don) Roe, Bonnie (Neil) Keep, Jeannette (Richard) Lannon and 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, plus extended family and numerous friends. Dad was born in Winnipeg on October 8, 1932 and married the love of his life on July 24, 1954. They settled in St. Pierre, where they stayed for 17 years. Dad worked for the CNR for 33 years. During their retirement they lived and travelled in their motor home until they eventually settled in Kelowna, BC. In 2008 they moved to Paradise Village in Ste. Anne so they could be closer to their family. Dad loved life and people. He could get along with anybody and rarely said a bad word about anyone. His many passions and hobbies included curling, fishing, square dancing, intarsia, shuffleboard and eating Mom’s chocolate chip cookies. He loved family gatherings and was always ready for a card game. We will be celebrating Ed’s life and passing at the Sainte Anne Catholic Church on Central Avenue, Ste. Anne, on Friday, March 26, 2010 with a viewing at 11:00 a.m., eulogy at 11:15 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Ed’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff and doctors at the Ste. Anne’s hospital for their compassion and tender loving care. Goodbye Dad, we’ll miss your hearty laugh and warm smile forever. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow Lift up your hearts, and share with me, God wants me now; He set me free. REST IN PEACE In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Assoc, Manitoba, 629 McDermot Avenue; Wpg., MB R3A 1P6 or to a charity of your choice.
