Our father, John Dyck, was born in Franklin Municipality, November 28th, 1926. He was the second child born to John and Anna Dyck. Dad grew up in Grunthal, Manitoba, during the years of the great depression. Dad’s journey on earth ended early Saturday morning, August 26th, 2006 after a lengthy stay at the Ste. Anne Hospital. Dad leaves to mourn his passing: son Ron (Joanne) Dyck, son Ray Dyck, daughter Marianne (Jake) Hildebrandt, daughter Barb (Gary) Klassen, son Richard (Alvina) Dyck. daughter Susan (Rubin) Schroeder, his sister Marita (John) Ritchie of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; 17 grandchildren and three great grand children (with one more on the way). Dad was predeceased by his wife and our mother, Sadie Dyck (nee Reimer), parents John and Anna Dyck, his sister Martha Leischeid and his brother Peter Dyck Mom and Dad were married June 17, 1951. Dad will be best remembered by many people as a police officer with Hanover Municipality, where he served the community for some 18 years. Dad was respected by the young people for his fair and understanding manner when they found themselves in trouble with the law. More recently, he was a driver with Penner International. As a family, we would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Gobeil and the nursing staff at the Ste. Anne Hospital, who provided compassionate care for Dad during his stay. Our thanks also go out to Sister Irene, Pastor Gary and many friends and family who ministered to Dad during his stay in the hospital. Public viewing will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 7:00 PM at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with a devotional at 7:30.
