Obituary of Elizabeth Unger

“I was born on Jan 31, 1926 to Peter and Maria Unger in Niverville on a farm. We moved to Rosengard area when I was two years old. I went to school in the Bristol school district. I got baptized when I was 21 years old on May 25, 1947 on Pentecost Day in the Randolf CMC Church. I was baptized by Rev. Peter S. Wiebe. I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour the winter before. I did house work at an early age, as my parents needed the money. I hoed and topped beets which was very hard work. Most of my life I worked in hospitals, house keeping, kitchen, C.S.R., the last 21 years in nursing. I enjoyed my work, although it wasn’t a glamorous job, but the work was rewarding. I lived in Winnipeg since 1958. I attended Christian Fellowship Chapel since 1984 although I could not attend regularly because of shift work. I worked lots of nights and evenings. I witnessed to patients and the staff knew I was a Christian. They sometimes asked me whether I would soon sprout wings, but it didn’t matter to me. I was so glad that parents brought me up strict and in Christianity and I was so fortunate that I was saved by the grace and the blood of Jesus who died on the cross for you and me, and that we have a better place to go to - a mansion that He has prepared for his believers. Thank you Jesus.” Elizabeth passed away at her residence in Winnipeg on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 84 years.
