Psalm 73:24 “Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel and afterward receive me to glory” Peacefully on July 2, 2000, Lydia passed into the arms of her Lord at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Cornelius in 1999, her son Edwin, her sister Linda, brothers: Edward, Hilbert, Ross, Clarence and her parents Edward and Karalina Wiebe. Lydia will be fondly remembered by her daughters Helen and Ben Unger, and Ruth and Ben Peters and her daughter-in-law Susan Stoesz. Lydia’s memory will also remain with her grandchildren Gladys, Barry, Edwin, Pearl, Kenneth, Deborah, Derrick, Brent and her great grandchildren Kelly, Ryan, Taylor, Carson, Connor and her great-great grandchild Cody. Lydia was born in Winkler, Manitoba in August 21, 1907. At the age of 18 she married Cornelius Stoesz and moved to Plum Coulee. In 1948 she and her family moved to Winnipeg. Here she worked for 28 years as a domestic day worker. In addition to caring for her family she had a great passion for gardening. She created beautiful gardens that many admired at her home in St. Vital and Southglen Trailer Park. Many of her family and friends would often exchange great fellowship in these enchanting gardens. She was very creative with her crafts, sewing and baking. Her home was always open to anyone that wished to come. Lydia enjoyed to always be surrounded by many friends and family. In 1986 Lydia and Cornelius moved to Fernwood Place in Steinbach where they continued to have a wonderful life together. After Cornelius’s passing Lydia moved to Bethania Personal Care Home in Fall of 1999 where she resided until now. Lydia’s family would like to thank the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home, especially Anne Breman for her devoted care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 7:00 800 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.
