Obituary of John P. Friesen

After a courageous battle with liver cancer Dad passed away peacefully at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB. Saturday, September 16 with his beloved wife of 55 years at his side. Dad is survived by his wife Elma nee Klassen; daughter Darlene,( Ben) Fehr and son Larry , (Théresè) , daughter Gail (Douglas) Popiel, daughter Sheila (Gerald) Lachance, son Wesley ( Karen) 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Brothers; Erwin ( Matilda) Ben and Edward ( Anne), and brother-in-law Dave Barkman and sisters-in-law Anna Friesen and Margaret Friesen. Dad was predeceased by his son Theodore (Ted) in 1977 and granddaughter Sharon in 1982. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 from 7-8 p.m. with devotional to follow, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September, 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Full Gospel Chapel, Steinbach with Pastor Peter Hubert officiating. Interment will take place in Heritage Cemetery. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Teen Challenge. Dad had a full and varied career from cook, lumberjack, cat operator, trapper, carpenter and lastly farmer in Hadashville for 31 years until their move to Steinbach in December, 1992 due to ill health..
