Obituary of Jacob K. Banman

Tuesday, September 26, 2000, Jacob K. Banman, peacefully passed away into the arms of Jesus at the age of 83. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son Ed and wife Alma of Steinbach, four grandchildren: Sheryl and Mark Kornelsen, Terry and Rosanne Banman, Dwayne and Sharon Banman, Matt Banman, nine great-grandchildren: Tyson, Brady and Griffin Kornelsen, Troy, Kara and Sharla Banman, Jasper, Tanner and Jordan Banman. One brother Peter (Nettie) Banman and one sister Mary Doerksen and numerous relatives and friends. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Anna (Hildebrand) in 1940 and his second wife Sarah (Penner) in 1991. His parents Peter and Maria Banman, six brothers and one sister. Viewing was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel Thursday, September 28 from 7-8 p.m. with a devotional that followed and prior to the service. Funeral service was held at the Steinbach C.M.C. Church on Friday, September 29, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Martens and Reverend Henry Schroeder officiating. Pallbearers were Matt Banman, Dwayne Banman, Mark Kornelsen, Jake Banman, John Banman, Harry Banman. Honorary Pallbearers: Sheryl Kornelsen, Terry Banman, Rosanne Banman and Sharon Banman. Interment followed in New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery. Special thank you to Dr. Minaar and staff at the Bethesda Hospital. Should friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice. Dad was born on April 27, 1917 in Blumengard, Manitoba. Dad married Anna Hildebrand on June 25, 1939. His wife Anna passed away suddenly April 14, 1940. Dad with his son Ed continued to live and farm on the Banman family farm till he remarried. He married Sarah Penner on November 15, 1949. They moved into their own house south of the family farm on the same section. Together they enjoyed farming, gardening and fishing. They enjoyed going for rides in the surrounding areas in Southeastern Manitoba. They lived in Blumengard area until their retirement in 1984. They moved to Steinbach and enjoyed 6 ½ more years together. Mom (Sarah) passed away on April 2nd, 1991. In 1995 Dad moved to Woodhaven Manor, where he lived till he was hospitalized in the beginning of August. In the last 9 years Dad missed mom dearly. He occupied his time by going out for rides and enjoyed meeting friends in the mall or restaurants. Dad will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and many friends.
