Peacefully on July 9, 2000, Elizabeth Dueck, passed away at the Menno Home for the Aged, Grunthal, Manitoba at the age of 87 years. Elizabeth was born to her parents Jacob and Helena Klassen (nee Fast) on June 3, 1913 in the R. M. of Hanover. She was baptized in 1932 upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ. In the same year, on June 26, she joined hands in holy matrimony with Bernhard Dueck. They shared joys and sorrows for 43 years until he passed away in 1975. They were blessed with a family of 8 children: Helen (Mrs. Abe Sawatzky) of Grunthal, deceased, Esther (Mrs. Henry Sawatzky) of Morris, Mary (passed away at 18 months), Ben and Agnes Dueck of Morden, Jacob Dueck of Steinbach, Katherina (Mrs. Peter Friesen) of Giroux, Peter Dueck of Ontario, and one son who passed away at birth. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and one great grandchild who all survive her. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Mrs. Susie Funk, Wpg., Mrs. Anna Funk, Steinbach, and Mrs. Esther Funk, Steinbach. The funeral service for Elizabeth Dueck was held Thursday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, New Bothwell with Rev. Henry T. Schroeder officiating.
