After a brief illness with cancer, John A. Reimer, aged 87, beloved husband of Lisa, passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on march 23, 2001. He is survived by Lisa, his wife of 65 years, whom he deeply loved and later tenderly caredc for during her own illness. He will also be remberered by four douaghters, two sons, fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. His children are Lydia (Ed) Loewen of Winnipeg, Janet Hollingsworth of Ottawa, Dory Reimer of Montreal, John (Betty) Reimer of Steinbach, Marina (Danny) Friesen of Steinbach and Chester Reimer of Ottawa. He was predeceased by one son Larry, in 1971, one grandson Daniel Friesen in 1972, and one son-in-law Gary Hollingsworth in 2000. Born in 1913, John A. Reimer lived his whole life in Manitoba except for a brief period with his young family in Niagara Falls, ON. Together with his wife, he was a farmer in south-eastern Manitoba until 1952, when he began a 30 year career in the farm equipment business. HE continued inother activities, such as small-scaled farming, community work, and traveling well into his retirement. Mr. Reimer was a unique man of deep faith who took an interest in local and international missions. He had a special gift for connecting with others in all walks of life and treated those he met with interest and enthusiasm. His funeral will take place at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main Street, Steinbach at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2001. Viewing will take place at the church prior to the service and at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. followed by a short devotional.
