Obituary of Bruce Reimer
On June 25, 1951, Bruce was born to Ben and Katherine Reimer of Blumenort, Manitoba. He was the oldest of four children and was raised on a dairy farm near Steinbach. He met Cathy Dueck in 1970 and they were married in the Blumenort Church on May 4, 1973. For 20 years Bruce and Cathy operated a beef and grain farm in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie. In the last few years, Bruce had scaled down his farming operation and became interested in restoring antique tractors. Bruce recently became involved with the Tractor Club through the Mennonite Heritage Museum and enjoyed participating in events which put his restored tractors to use. Bruce was a member of the Emmanuel Free Church in Steinbach and took part in many work/service trips over the past 10 years, particularly enjoying the many times he was able to visit Ukraine.
Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be dearly missed by many people.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ben A. and Katherine Reimer and his infant son Darren. He is survived by his wife Cathy, daughters Corinna, Julia and Rachel, son-in-law Chris and granddaughter Olivia; as well as his sisters Donna (Arnie) Reimer and Audrey (Earl) Plett and brother Kent (Charlene) Reimer and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The memorial service will be held Wednesday July 14, 2010 at 2:00 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Avenue, Steinbach, MB R5G 0K6 designated to the Word of Life Church in Ukraine.
