Obituary of Susie Martens

Susie Martens On Friday, October 13, 2006 our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Susie Martens went to be with her Lord. Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Peter W. Martin, in May of 1985, and her second husband, Peter T. Martens in December 2000. She was also predeceased by her parents, Abram K. and Helena Loewen, one brother, one sister and twin brothers in infancy. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Richard (Marilyn), Dennis (Hilda), Luella (Reg) Reimer, Bruce (Valerie) and Patricia (Farrel) Reimer, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mom was born December 30, 1918 the second of six children. She was baptized on confession of her faith in July 1939, in Rosenhof. She married Peter W. Martin on October 25, 1942. Mom married Peter T. Martens in November 1986. After his passing, Mom’s memory deteriorated to the point of being admitted to the Rest Haven Nursing Home, where she lived until her passing. Mom will be remembered for many things. Among them are her love of flowers and singing, the pride she took in her baking, her love of our children, but by far the most we will remember her sense of humor. She loved to laugh and always had a twinkle in her eye. Our deepest thanks to the staff at Rest Haven for your loving care of Mom. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 18 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery. If friends so desire donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Rest Haven Foundation, 177 Woodhaven Ave.; Steinbach, MB R5G 1K7 We will miss you Mom and we look forward to seeing you again.
