Obituary of Elizabeth Stoesz

Betty Stoesz (nee Suderman) of Niverville, was born in Foxwarren, Manitoba on Oct.24, 1931,the youngest of 10 children. She is survived by her husband Cornie, of 61 years, and 5 children. Neil, Bettie (Harv Penner), Dennis, Linda (Gordon Dueck), Gerald (Carol Beauchemin) as well as 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Mom and Dad first met at a July 1st celebration in Steinbach, in 1947 and were married 2 years later. Mom lived for her kids and grandkids. She was very gifted in baking, cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, and knitting, which all of us benefited from. She was a very hard worker and often brought in extra money for the family by doing difficult jobs such as hoeing beets, gathering eggs, operating a Catelli cucumber garden, working nights in the Fresh Water Fish plant, and cooking in restaurants. Mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer about 3 ½ years ago. She had surgery at that time and had been quite healthy until this past winter when she found herself with less and less energy. In spring we learned that a new cancer had invaded her body and had spread quite extensively. Mom was confident without a doubt that she was going to heaven. She passed away peacefully on July 24, 2010 with her husband, children, and even some grandchildren by her side. We want to thank Southeastman Health Home Care and Concordia Hospital for helping us through our mother’s last days. The funeral for Elizabeth Stoesz will be held Thursday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach., with interment at Hespler Cemetery, Niverville. Viewing willl be at Southland Community Church, 190 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, Wednesday, July 28, 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., and at the chapel prior to the service. Donations in memory of Elizabeth may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 1109 – 675 McDermot Ave.; Wpg., MB R3E 0V9
