Obituary of Dave Nickel

David Nickel passed away July 25, 2010 in Portage, Wisconsin. He was born November 7, 1950, in Steinbach, Manitoba, the son of Jake and Katheryne Nickel. Dave was born and raised in Steinbach. He met the love of his life, Tina, and knowing that God had led them to each other, they were married on October 7, 1972, and they enjoyed almost 38 years together. Dave and Tina were blessed with a daughter, Jacqui, and a son, Jared. Dave loved his children dearly. He encouraged their passion for music, inspired them to live edifying lives and created many lifelong memories with their many family vacations. Dave was a true friend and a man of great integrity. His gentle, trusting nature is evident in the many close friends he made in his youth that are still close friends. He found joy in time spent with close friends and family members and he would always take time for and show interest in those he met. Dave’s passion for photography was shared by his wife, Tina, and it became an integral part of their time spent together. Dave will be sadly missed and one day, joyfully re-united with his wife Tina, his daughter Jacqui and son-in-law Mike, his son Jared and daughter-in-law Cheryl, and four grandsons – Christian, Toby, Tommy and Jairus. The viewing will take place on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 7:00 pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with the funeral following on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 pm, at Southland Community Church. Interment will be held at Heritage Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dave Nickel Trust fund at the Steinbach Credit Union.
