Viola Esther Kliewer passed away peacefully at Parkside Nursing Home in Regina, SK at the age of 80 years. She was born on the family farm near Mennon, SK, to Peter C. and Katherine (Tena Strauss) Kliewer. She attended Richmond School and Hepburn High School. She also attended Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, and after a short illness finished her education in business school. After a few years working in California, she then worked for 35 years as a secretary in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, retiring in 1996. When her health began to fail, she entered a home for assisted living, and finally went into a nursing home in Regina to be near family. Viola loved and lived for her Lord Jesus Christ, and showed much love for her family and friends, who meant so much to her. She also loved her church family and ladies’ groups that she was involved in. She greatly enjoyed her job, and was also an animal lover, particularly her dogs. Viola was always an elegant lady. She was a fun-loving and cheerful person who enjoyed life. She always made each niece and nephew feel very special. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten by her family and friends. She leaves to mourn, her brother Harvey (Phyllis) Kliewer, nieces and nephews Heather Thompson, Kelly Holtby, Rob (Carol) Kliewer, all of Regina, SK, Dean (Toni) Kliewer of Abbotsford, BC, and Mary Jane (Paul) Neustaedter of Steinbach, MB. Viola was predeceased by her parents, Peter C. and Tena Kliewer, her twin sisters, Edna Teichrob and Elma Friesen, and her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Voleda Kliewer. The funeral service for Viola will be held at the Hepburn Mennonite Brethren Church, 2nd Ave S, Hepburn, SK at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20. Viewing will take place just prior to the service. The service will be followed immediately by interment and a reception, both at the church. Officiating pastor will be Rueben Andres. Funeral arrangements are made by Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB.
