Mom was born on May 13, 1913 to John R. and Anna Toews, the first daughter in a family of thirteen children. She keenly felt her responsibility to help in the care of her siblings. On May 15, 1932, at the age of 19 she married our father Abe P. Unger. Together they had eight children. She filled her days being a loving wife and mother, and later, a doting grandmother. She served faithfully in the ministry together with our father for many years and provided wonderful hospitality on numerous occasions. She was a good Christian example to her children and often spoke of her faith to each of us. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens and canned wonderful preserves which she shared with all of us. Funeral services will be held at the Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church in Landmark, Mb. on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Plett and Rev. Edwin Plett officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Viewing on Wednesday, September 5 from 7-7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service. Donations may be made to EMC Missions available at the church. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Resthaven Nursing Home for their loving and patient care of our mother during these last eight years.
