Peacefully, on February 19, 2002 surrounded by family, Dad went to be with the Lord at the age of 91. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Elizabeth of 63 years; four sons Abe (Mary) of Grunthal, Jacob (Ann) of Altona, Neil (Grace) of Steinbach and Peter of Mitchell; five daughters Mary (Cornie) Martens of Kleefeld, Margaret (Ernie) Martens of Steinbach, Erna (Neil) Martens of Ste. Anne, Linda (Jerry) Thiessen of St. Germain, Betty (David) Fehr of Kleefeld; 47 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, three sisters and two sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Dad was born September 30, 1910 in the Chortitz (Randolph) area. Mom and Dad lived first in the Randolph area, moving to Grunthal in 1951. In 1975 they moved to Mitchell and then to Woodhaven Manor in 1997. The Funeral Service for Peter J. R. Funk was held Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the Steinbach Chortitzer Mennonite Church with interment at Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach, MB Special thanks to Dr. Thiessen and the staff at Bethesda Hospital.
