Obituary of Lillian Marguerite Hovorka

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Lillian Hovorka, beloved wife, wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt. Lillian was predeceased by her mother and father, Rose and August Schindler, two brothers, Wallace and Charles Schindler, two brothers-in-law, Don Wohlwend, Henry Vauclair and a son-in-law, Wayne Banker. She leaves to mourn her husband, Joe Hovorka, five children, Marvin (Doris) Hovorka, Muriel Banker, Linda (Ray) Smith, Terry Hovorka, Brian Hovorka, eleven grand-children and spouses, 30 great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren, two brothers and spouses, three sisters and spouses and many, many friends. Lillian was born on April 4, 1918, in Vassar, Manitoba. She spent her childhood in Vassar, married her husband Joe on December 31, 1937, and moved to Whitemouth Lake where she resided for the rest of her life. She worked hard all her life and supported her husband in all his endeavors. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, playing cards, but especially dancing with her husband Joe. Her family was always first and foremost in her life. Mom was a people person and loved to see and visit friends and family whenever she could. She died peacefully with family at her side at the age of 92 on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Vassar Catholic Church. Family viewing is from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Public viewing is from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Church service will be at 2:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon and celebration of her life at the Vassar Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Borderland Community Housing, Box 207, Sprague, Manitoba, ROA 1Z0.
