Obituary of Aganetha (Nettie) Dyck

Mom was born on October 17, 1945 to Peter and Susanna (Wiebe) Martens near Grunthal, MB. Mom left behind her loving husband of 47 years, Ed, three children; Sandra (Dale) and their children Justin and Alexandra; Jason (Marnie) and their children Coleman and Kymber; Shelly (Keith) and their children Caelan, Sydney and Nixon; and many brothers and sisters. Mom was predeceased by her parents Peter and Susanna, her sister Mary, her sister Susie and her brother Abe. Mom and Dad were married June 20, 1964. From that day forward they lived there lives to the fullest Mom started out working at a sewing factory then moved on to the Grunthal Bakery followed by operating Dairy Capital Restaurant. From there she went to her last job working at Loewen Windows, where she then fully retired and became a full time housewife, mom and grandma. She loved working in her flowerbeds, constantly moving plants around from one area of the yard to the next. More recently she enjoyed making scrapbooks for the grandchildren and attempting to make a quilt or two. Mom enjoyed her daily morning coffee time with her two daughters, listening to her son talk about his hunting adventures and puzzling and playing games with her grandchildren. Family time was very important. Her caring personality and friendly smile were recognized by all who knew her. Very rarely would you see Mom and Dad apart from each other. Shopping trips to the city, weekend getaways to the states to find a casino or two or just spending time on their yard, they were always together, happy and in love. November 4, 2011 we received news that changed all our lives forever. Mom was diagnosed with cancer. During mom’s seven week battle with cancer at the St. Pierre Hospital, Mom’s wish came true when she was able to come home for Christmas, which was her most favorite time of the year, and spend time with her family. Shortly after, on December 29, 2011, while back in St Pierre Hospital, with her family by her side at 11:00 p.m., Mom peacefully went to be with the Lord. We love you and we miss you. Forever in our hearts you will be. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.
