It is with a mix of joy and sadness that we mourn the loss of our mother Violet (Plett) Reimer Wall. She was born on June 19, 1926. She passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2010 with her family by her side. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers, her children Jake (Darlene), John (Irene), Lillian (Raymond) Reimer, Rick (Alice), Elaine (Bernie) Plett, Julie (Late Alvin) Reimer, Darlene (Wayne) Plett, Jo (Wes) Unger, 30 grand children, many great grandchildren, two great-great grand children and the Wall family. She was predeceased by her first husband Harvey Reimer in May 1999 and her second husband Henry Wall June 2010, one son in infancy, two grandchildren and one son-in-law. Mother was a creative person who liked to knit, crochet, embroider, and make quilts. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed music. She has taught us many cooking skills and when necessary seemed be able make a meal out of very little. Her good nature and canny sense of humour will be missed. Mom’s Knitting When I think of Mom, I can picture her sitting; In the middle of the couch, Surrounded by her knitting. Many a time, I would sit there and listen, To her life stories of the past; Her knitting in hand, The needle always moving fast. I was proud of her work, Because she always did it well; The beauties she’d knit, Make my heart swell. She taught me to knit And it wasn’t easy; Especially with yarn, That’s so knotted and fleecy. Mom, how do you do it, Knit and talk all at once? When I try, I lose stitches Bunch after bunch. I’ve come a long ways, Since I sat at your knees; But there still many a time, When I cry, “Help, Mom please”. By Julie Reimer From Feb 2009 till her passing she has been hospitalized. She lived at Menno Home in Grunthal for about two months. The family would like to thank the Bethesda Hospital and the Menno Home staff for all the care and compassion shown toward our Mother. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Monday, November 22 with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ridgewood EMC Church with interment at the church cemetery.
