Obituary of Ronald Francis Cole

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” Reinhold Niebuhr RONALD FRANCIS COLE It is with deep sadness that we announce Ron passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26th, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 68 years. Born in Sudbury, Ontario on May 4, 1942 to Mary ??? and Howard Cole, he grew up there with his older sister Catherine and brother Donald. He was predeceased by his father, his mother and his brother Donald. Ron leaves to cherish his memory, his best friend and loving wife, Shirley, two daughters, Carmen (Ted) Dunlop and Marie Murdock; grandchildren Lenna Dunlop, Nicole (Josh) Ryan, Cody and Janelle Murdock; sister-in-aw Marilyn Williams and many good friends and family. As a young man, Ron worked in the mines. He met Shirley in 1974 and it would seem from then on they were inseparable. Together they travelled around and eventually settled in Winnipeg. Ron went back to school and became an addictions counselor for the AFM. He worked there. Ron loved the outdoors and being active. Going fishing and hunting, or riding around the countryside with his best friend, Shirley by his side was one of his favorite things to do. He enjoyed working on and restoring old vehicles and once they were all fixed up, he would sell them. He may have retired, but he still worked – building decks and patios, even little cabins, laying down flooring or carpet for others were some of the extra jobs he did. Ron always had some project he was working on. He loved to talk and enjoyed telling us in great detail all about his latest project. We will miss that. The family would like to thank the hospital staff at the HSC-MICU for their wonderful compassionate care. As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place, but there will be a Memorial service on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gospel Chapel in La Broquerie. We listened more than you think. We remember more than you know. We thank you for being our husband, Dad, Poppa and Friend.
