At the age of 92 years, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas Michaud passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Villa Youville, Ste. Anne, MB. Thomas is mourned by his wife of 65 years, Cecile (nee Fiola), his daughters; Rita (Pierre Verrier), Diane (Ashley Trenten), Denise (Leon Shore) and chosen son Ken Desjarlais, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and his only surviving sister, Anna Aubin. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Amedee and Alphonse and numerous in-laws. Born May 12, 1918 in La Broquerie, the eldest son of Georges and Rose Anna Michaud (nee Kirouac). He grew up on the family farm in La Broquerie. As a young adult, he worked in the logging industry. From there, he purchased a farm which he farmed for many years. In 1945, he married Cecile Fiola and started their family. After selling their homestead, he moved into town and began doing carpentry work, which he loved. In his later years, they sold their town property and moved to a retirement home in Ste. Anne. The family wishes to express their gratitude towards the staff at the Villa Youville for their excellent care for Dad and especially to Sister Rioux and Sister Forest for their friendship and support. Viewing on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. will be followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2:00 p.m. and held at the St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church, La Broquerie, MB. Interment at the parish cemetery. Those wishing to honor the memory of Thomas Michaud may make a donation to Villa Youville Nursing Home, 15 Charrier Rd., Ste. Anne, MB, R5H 1C9 in lieu of flowers.
