Ernest J. Reimer, son of Peter I. and Margaret Reimer, was born on October 9, 1929. He quietly passed away on December 28, 2006, in the Ste Anne Hospital, reaching the age of 77 years. Dad was born, grew up and lived on the family farm in Greenland till 1995. Then he sold the farm and moved to a retirement home in Steinbach, MB. Dad answered the call of God in his youth and upon a conversion experience was baptized on January 31, 1943. He remained faithful to his vows. On February 10, 1957, he was joined in marriage to Katie Wohlgemuth. They shared the joys and sorrows of life for almost fifty years. To this union were born two daughters and one son. Dad had a quiet, easy-going nature and was contented with whatever God gave him. We often heard him say “Do your best and leave the rest”. He loved meeting his neighbors and friends. The Church was very dear to him. As Dad’s health began to fail more and more, he leaned heavily on the prayers of others. When asked what should be prayed for, his answer was that God’s will be done. His simple trusting faith helped him through this difficult time. Those left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife Katie; two daughters, Frieda and Lois Reimer; Steinbach, MB; one brother, Herbert and Ella Reimer, Cartwright, MB; one sister, Lena Isaac, Steinbach, MB; one brother-in-law, Abe Wohlgemuth, Linden AB; four sisters-in-law, Helen Wohlgemuth, Mary Reimer, Adina Isaac, all of Steinbach, MB, Nellie Penner, Hillsboro, KS; as well as special family friends: Joanne, Della and Carol Wohlgemuth and Les & Rhaea Dueck and family. One infant son, Danton, his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Viewing will be held Saturday, December 30, at 7:00 pm with a devotional at 7:30 pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will held at the Greenland Church on December 31 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Bissonette and all the staff at Ste Anne Hospital for taking such excellent care of Dad and us as we sat by his bedside.
