Obituary of Helena Doerksen

Mom passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Menno Home in Grunthal at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband (our father) Peter in 1969, twins Elizabeth and Aaron in infancy, her parents Cornelius and Maria Martens, half brother Cornelius, half sister Katherina and sister Anne Kehler. Left to mourn her passing are children Mary (John) Hiebert, Peter (Anne) Doerksen, Helen (Bill) Friesen, Anne (Vern) Penner, Bill (Eva) Doerksen, Aron (Darlene) Doerksen, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mom was born in the Niverville area October 18, 1916. She was baptized upon the confession of her faith on June 1, 1936 in Chortitz, MB by Bishop Peter S. Wiebe. Mom and Dad were married on October 25, 1936 in the Niverville CMC. They resided in the Niverville all their life. Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 7 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Niverville Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 99 1st St. S, Niverville on Sunday, January 21 with interment at the Niverville Heritage Cemetery. We, the family, want to thank the home care staff who looked after mom while at home, as well as the doctors and staff at St. Pierre Hospital and Grunthal Menno Home.
