It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, grand-daughter, sister and aunt Emily Rose Friesen on January 8, 2012 at Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB. Emily is survived by her parents, Ken and Tara, brothers Brent, Justin and Ben; sisters Brittany Kari and Emma. Emily also leaves behind grandparents Ben and Mary, uncles Abe (Gloria), Andy (Geraldine) and Jim, two nieces Arianna and Seraphiina and one nephew Brycen as well as numerous cousins. Emily was born on June 9, 2007 at St. Boniface Hospital. She remained in and out of hospitals since the minute she was born. Emily has fought hard her entire life; she has been through multiple surgeries and has shown everyone just how strong her will was. Emily was a loving little girl who would always give a hug when you asked. Emily was brave and kind and was a most beautiful little girl. She will be always loved, dearly missed, and never forgotten. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy Murdoch, CFS, Dr. Reeni Soni (cardiologist), Dr. Lea Legge (nurse technician), as well as the countless doctors, nurses and medical staff from both Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg and Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB, who cared for Emily and the family during this long battle. A private service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB on Monday, January 16. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Friesen, Brittany Friesen, Gary Friesen and Beau Friesen. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Variety Children's Heart Centre, 685 William Avenue, Room FE241, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0Z2
