Obituary of Katherine Penner

The obituary of Katherine Penner March 31, 1915 – January 22, 2007 “I have fought a good fight; I have finished the course and have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness which the Lord Himself shall give me.” Our mother, Katherine Penner received her crown from the Heavenly Father on Monday, January 22 at 8:45 p.m. She died peacefully at the age of 91 at the St. Adolphe Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters and their families: Corinne and Sid Reimer of Landmark, Elaine and Art Rempel of Steinbach, Doris Penner of Landmark, Eleanor and Roger Gingerich of Steinbach and Celia and Grant Plett of Winnipeg. The family includes 16 grandchildren and their spouses, and 25 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing sisters-in-law, Margaret Reimer, Helen Andres, and Ruby and Archie Plett, as well as brother-in-law Archie Penner and wife Elvira. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter in 1992, her parents Heinrich and Helena Reimer and 12 siblings. Mom was a staunch believer in Jesus Christ until her dying hour. She led an exemplary life of obedience and faith, trusting implicitly in God’s grace. We sincerely thank the St. Adolphe nursing staff for their compassionate care right to the end. Funeral services for Katherine Penner will take place Monday, Jan. 29, 2 p.m. at the Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church in Landmark with interment at the church cemetery. Viewing will take place Sunday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach with devotional to follow at 7:30 p.m.
