Obituary of William A. (Bill) Toews

On April 28th, Bill peacefully slipped away to heaven. He was born on April 17th, 1928 to Abraham and Helena Toews. He is survived by his four daughters; Colleen and Gord Kroeker; Shannon and Gord Bartel; Janine and Peter Wieler; Bobbi Jane and Doug Thiessen. As well, by eight grandchildren; James and Megan Wieler, Madeline, Graeme Wieler; Derek, Mallory Bartel and Morgan, Jasmyn and Brinna Thiessen. He is survived by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a sister-in-law. He was predeceased by his wife Trudie in April of 2010. Dad accepted Jesus in his teens and was baptized shortly after. This last year as he struggled with his health, he held firmly to his faith in Jesus. Bill and Trudie met at Brandt Construction and were married December 4th, 1959. They had 50 great years together. Early into their marriage they acquired Toews Poultry and in 1977 they purchased Countryside Farms. They worked alongside each other until their retirement in 1991. After retiring, his project was his cottage at Buffalo Point. Over the years he enjoyed the drive to the cottage and taking care of it. Dad also looked forward to his daily coffee times with friends. The family would like to thank all the people involved in caring for dad, those including his home care family, at Grunthal Supportive Living, the staff at his short stay in Cedarwood Manor, Dr. Gebray and the wonderful, caring staff at Bethesda Hospital. Our heartfelt thanks to those friends who took time to visit our dad wherever he was. Your kindness and support was greatly appreciated by our family. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011, 10am. It will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave, Steinbach with a private family interment prior to the service.
