Suddenly, while in hospital, after a brief and courageous encounter with cancer, our loved one was relieved of his earthly duties to heavenly rest with his wife Verna of 50 years and daughter Barbara by his side. It was a blessing he had never experienced any pain and with his jokeable way with words brought us so much laughter. After 29 years at MTS, retirement brought him the opportunity to enjoy gardening, fishing, hunting, mushroom and berry picking, wood cutting and time with family and friends. Surviving him are his two daughters, Barbara (Ken) Ladobruk (grandchildren Shaun, Tara, Cherise, Tyler), Sandra (John); three sons, Travis (Scott, Krysten and a great-grandchild on the way), Bradley (Nathan, Brittany) and Noel (Cindy) grandson Lucas; Godchild Taras; Uncle John Solomandyk of BC; sister-in-law MaryAnne (John deceased); other brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Doris Wyryha, one sister Jean, four brothers Walter, Billy, Paul and John. At Birchwood Funeral Chapel on both days - Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 a viewing, prayer and hymns were presented by family, relatives and friends. Monday, Sept. 19 the funeral service was officiated by Father Douglas LeClair with interment that followed at St Michael Ukrainian Cemetery in Sarto. Arrangements entrusted to Birchwood Funeral Chapel of Steinbach. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Taras to CancerCare Manitoba. Our family wishes to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for all the prayers, cards, food, flowers, guitar music, speeches and words of sympathy and encouragement received from MTS, Dr Krahn, the nursing staff at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, family, friends and relatives in helping us get through this difficult time.
