It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John K Reimer, loving husband, father and grandfather. John was born June 6, 1924 to Peter and Anna Reimer. He was the 3rd youngest of 16 children. John is survived by his wife, Margaret and seven children - Anne (Henry), John (Martha), Willy (Dianne), Susie (Dave), Margaret, Trudy (Herman), Shirley (Jodey), 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. John was pre-deceased by his parents, all 15 of his siblings, his son Peter, daughter-in-law, Ann Reimer, and 1 infant great-granddaughter. John worked hard all his life. He loved farming, gardening and woodworking. He had incredible physical strength as well as inner strength. He suffered through a lot of pain to his back and knees, but that didn't stop him from working and going to help others in need of help. Spending time with his family gave him so much joy. John met Margaret, his wife of 64 years, in February 1946 and married her on August 10, 1947. She was the love of his life and together they made many wonderful memories. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grunthal Menno Home for all the wonderful care he received the last 2 years of his life. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.
