It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Peter K. Reimer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Dad was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elda, daughter Cheryl (Dean), sons Robert (Eleanor), Stan (Rhonda), Rodney (Tina), Dennis (Rose), Bradley (Lois), and Brian (Tricia), twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one sister Tina Kornelson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born July 11, 1932 in Ile des Chenes, Manitoba, and grew up on a small farm in the Blumenort area. He fondly remembered his early working years at the cheese factory in Blumenort. After leaving the cheese factory, he became a carpenter, building many homes in the Steinbach and Winnipeg areas. In 1966, our parents moved their young family to Treesbank where they started a small mixed farm, and where dad continued home building. After his first heart attack at age fifty-six, they returned to Steinbach, where Dad began a much enjoyed furniture building career. Church and camp played major roles in Dad’s life. He served in various positions in church, and was actively involved with the Canadian Sunday School Mission at the board level. Dad loved his family and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. He loved to travel, and two trips to Africa to visit family were highlights. He also enjoyed singing, especially with the Singing Grandpas. Viewing will be held Thursday, June 28, 7:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, and the funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ridgewood EMC Church. Interment at the church cemetery.
