Obituary of Betty Jean Friesen Hoover

Betty Jean Friesen Hoover (nee Werbelow) passed away on June 26, 2013 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her family: Jean Charrington, James (Bertha) Friesen, John (Chris) Friesen, Yvonne (Ryan) Rempel, JoAnne (Harry) Wiebe and Joyce (Sterling)Tysseland; grandchildren Wayne (Jackie) Nevin, Jackie (Barry) Sim, Charlotte (Paul) Charrington, Heather (Danny) Sabot, April (Dale) Penner, Esther (Kerri) Scott, Peter (Amanda) Friesen, Michael (Heather) Friesen, Jason (Shannon) Friesen, Kimberly (Rob) Friesen, Tara (Garnet) Rempel, Marisa (Joel) Rempel, Natasha (Gerald) Boisjoli, Nicole (Ken) Kehler, Sara Tysseland and Trygve (Gaby) Tysseland, 32 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. Betty was born on February 4, 1923 in Superior, Wisconsin to Frank and Lillian Werbelow. She was the youngest of seven children. She met her first husband John Friesen while visiting her sister Francis Friesen in Steinbach. Here they made their home together and had six wonderful children of whom they were very proud. Betty was a loving and devoted mother. Betty loved baking, entertaining, and tending to her flower gardens. Betty was especially proud of her Share and Care group. In 1984 Betty married John Hoover. Together they built a log home in Mitchell, Manitoba, where they lived till John passed away in 1993. For the past 20 years Betty has made her home in Winnipeg. Betty loved people and made friends everywhere she went. Her door was always open. Betty had an unwavering faith in God. She regularly attended church until her health deteriorated. Betty impacted many lives and will be remembered as a free spirit. She will be missed and loved forever. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, Manitoba with viewing prior to the service. The family expresses deep appreciation to the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their compassionate care of Betty. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Box 767 Winnipeg, MB R3C 2L4.
