On Thursday, October 21, 1999, at 3:50 p.m., our dad, John F. Krahn, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. He entered into eternal rest, in the Bethesda Hospital with his beloved wife Margaret and his dear family at his side. Dad was born January 4, 1911 in Grunthal, MB to Peter and Aganetha Krahn. In spite of his handicap, his determination made him a hard worker who provided well for his family. His generous and caring nature made it easy for him to help his family and anyone who needed a helping hand. Remaining to cherish his memory, are his wife Margaret of 67 years, one son John (Edna) of Kleefeld, three daughters: Margaret (Otto) Funk of Niverville, Mary (Abe) Funk of Grunthal, Helen (Jake) Penner of Kleefeld; 14 grandchildren and their spouses and 22 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by one daughter and one son in infancy and by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for John F. Krahn will be held at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church on Monday, October 25, 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Ed Wiebe and Rev. Cornie Ginter officiating with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery. Viewing was held Sunday, October 24, 1999 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a devotional at 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Gary Funk, Brian Krahn, Jeff Funk, Michael Funk, Russell Penner, Rick Penner and Randy Funk. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in dad’s memory to CMC missions — Paraguay Radio Ministry.
