Obituary of Robert Wayne Horn

Sadly, and in spite of our prayers and hope, Wayne left us after severe complications following a stroke he suffered on Sept 28, 2008. He will be forever missed by Dorothy – his wife for 30 years – his children, grandchildren and friends. Wayne was born in Belleville, ON, joined the armed forces at 18, married and resided in Carberry, MB until his first marriage ended. After moving to Winnipeg he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Department of National Defense. Due to a work-place accident in 1989, he became partially disabled and was never able to work again. He tried to enjoy life as much as possible following the injury until severe health problems became overwhelming in the past few years. Wayne has enjoyed residing with Dorothy in Lorette since 1995. Wayne leaves behind one son Howard (Melody) of Carberry, MB and their two children; two daughters Ann (Lenis) Duncan of Carberry, MB and their four children and Lori-Lynn (Ted) of Winnipeg and their four children; Dorothy’s son Kelly (Lisa) and their two children in Winnipeg; her daughters Michelle (Warren) Wojnowski and their two children in Lorette and Darcy in Vancouver, BC. Besides his14 grandchildren there are six great grandchildren in Carberry and Brandon. Wayne dearly loved and was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings: Charles and family in Winnipeg; Arthur and family in Seaforth, Nova Scotia; Joe and family in Burlington, Ontario; Roger and family in Belleville, ON; June and family in Belleville, ON as well as Dorothy’s five siblings and their families in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Washington. Sadly Wayne’s children and their families are still recovering from the loss of their mother in July 2008. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, his son Kevin, one brother, two sisters and extended family members. The family wishes to thank all the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Ste. Anne Hospital and Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach and all the physicians who used their expertise in treating Wayne and caring for him in the last three months. Floral tributes are gratefully declined, but donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street; Wpg., MB R3L 0K6, Canadian Diabetes Association (Manitoba Division), 200 – 310 Broadway; Wpg., MB R3C 0S6, St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation (Cardiac Research), 409 Tache Ave., Room D1003; Wpg., MB R2H 2A6 or a charity of one’s choice.
