With sad hearts and wonderful memories, the family of Jake Hiebert of Grunthal announces his passing at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on January 7, 2011 at the age of 75 with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Hanna on June 12, 2010. Remaining to cherish Dad’s life are Mark and Bev, Tylor and Destiny of Steinbach, Tim and Ingrid, Melissa and Stephanie of Winnipeg. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers, sisters and many friends he made during his life journey. Mom and Dad could always be found outside on the yard in summer making everything look great. They were proud supporters of the Winnipeg Jets and enjoyed going to Jets games and for wafer pie at Salisbury house after the game. Jake had a huge passion for hunting and fishing with family and friends. Planning a big fly-in fishing trip or a hunting week with his buddies brought him much joy. Living up in northern Manitoba for many years gave Dad lots of opportunities to throw the hook into the lake, and spend time beside some rapids. He loved working with his hands and he was never afraid to tackle a problem with plumbing and heating issues. He was always quick to jump in his truck and go give someone a hand day or night. Dad was a great role model and we will miss his generous spirit, larger than life laughter and unconditional love. We were blessed to celebrate his 75th birthday with him New Years Day. We love you Dad. On Thursday January 13, 2011 a Celebration of Dad’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church in Blumenort, Manitoba. Interment at the Silberfeld CMC Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for Dad at the Bethesda Hospital.
