Obituary of Agatha Dueck

Our Mother Agatha Broesky Dueck was born on May 5, 1919 to Abram and Maria Broesky, in the Hanover Municipality. She lived, and got married in the Hanover Municipality until she moved to Steinbach, November 1979. Mom came to know the Lord at age 13, and was baptized on June 16, 1937, at the Chortizer Church in Chortiz. November 3, 1938 Mom married her childhood sweetheart and best friend Abram Dueck. Mom & Dad farmed all their married life, until they sold their farm in 1972, and semi-retired. Together they had 7 children. We children received unconditional love, and were taught the importance of following Jesus. Family was always very important to our Mother. Her in-laws were treated as her own children. Our Mother was slow to anger and full of love and compassion. She had a gift of serving and a love for cooking, and many benefited from it. Mom and Dad did everything together. Then on December 21, 1978, Dad died. This was a very difficult time for her. Everything had drastically changed overnight. And this was very hard for our Mother. Over time she realized that life for her would go on, and it did. At age 60 she learned how to drive a car and got her license. Our Mother Agatha Dueck passed away on February 18, 2012 at her residence, at the age of 92. Mom is survived by: 5 daughters and 1 son, Annie Letkeman, Mary Wiens, Agatha (Dick) Schellenberg, Jessie (Isaac) Bergen, Peter (Linda) Dueck, and Marge (Cornie) Martens; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Abram in 1978, son Abe in 1942, son-in-law Jake Wiens in 1999. Also two grandchildren and one great grandchild died in infancy. The family wants to thank the doctors and the home care staff. Mom’s home going will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 22, at 11:00 am, with interment at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Cemetery.
